The application of water-based varnish in flexographic printing for corrugated boxes and kraft paper faces multiple hurdles. First, the porous and fibrous nature of these substrates leads to excessive varnish absorption, compromising gloss uniformity and requiring precise viscosity control to balance penetration and surface coverage. Second, rapid drying on absorbent surfaces often causes fiber swelling or paper distortion, especially in high-speed production lines. Third, achieving sufficient rub resistance and moisture barrier properties without compromising recyclability remains difficult due to the limitations of waterborne resins in forming durable films. Additionally, compatibility issues with water-based inks (e.g., color shift or intercoat adhesion failures) demand tailored formulations to avoid chemical conflicts. Lastly, maintaining consistent print quality on uneven corrugated surfaces—particularly in high-definition graphics—requires optimized anilox rollers and precise ink transfer control to prevent dot gain or pooling. Addressing these challenges hinges on advanced polymer modifications, hybrid additive systems, and process adjustments to align with sustainability goals and performance demands.
In various industrial applications, we have developed a range of solutions and production formulations based on our proprietary products. To address diverse operational requirements, the specific component ratios have not been disclosed in the following table, as tailored solutions require individualized consideration.
